Energetic Beyond Belief - BAKUMON - New Age Idols Spotlight
Have you ever wondered what it would be inside a storm full of fun and energy?
If you answered yes, this is the group for you. You won't be able to contain yourself.
That group is BAKUMON!
Will you join me on this journey into a party jetstream?
BAKUMON is a group with the average age of 18 years old.
According to the official website, I'm going to paraphrase, when you hear the groups' rhythmic music, it creates a whirlwind of excitement that will make your body move without thinking.
They were unveiled on July 23rd, 2020.
The group belongs to both CMajor Works and FreeK-Laboratory. Both of those agencies have a variety of talent under their name.
The group originally debuted with six members but shortly after quickly grew to eight. A few members have come and gone in recent months but now the group will be going strong with 10 members.
They have released six digital singles and also a physical single paired with their agencies main single.
I will refer to the group as BAKUMON throughout to make it more simple.
As mentioned above, BAKUMON consists of 10 members, each of them with unique personalities.
Member Mizuki has a YouTube where she was doing ASMR, if you're into that kind of thing.
Yuuki has also her own YouTube channel where she posts dance covers and also some other cute things. You might see some members make an appearance every now and again. She is an all around talent. I highly suggest checking it out.
I will also list the members SNS profiles for you to follow them. To be honest, I hope you do. The members would like it...
Almost every members' OnlyFive sells out in an instant. You have to be really lucky.
Yukishiro Ririka (雪白りりか) - Joined January 2nd, 2022 - Current Member of Yorutumeriku - Twitter
Amakawa Nayu (天川なゆ) - Original Member - Withdrew August 4th, 2022
Usaki Hikari (宇咲ひかり) - Graduated July 31st, 2022
BAKUMON has released six digital singles at this current time. Theyalso collaborated on their agencies single, We are FreeK, You can stream on your favorite music platforms such as Apple Music or Spotify (I use those two the most).
1st Digital Single - BAKUMON FIELD DAYS - Released December 16th, 2020
Collaboration Single - "We are FreeK" Type Q - Released October 27th, 2021
This is version Q of this single. You can buy this physical single at your favorite music stores. If you live overseas, you must have a Japanese iTunes account to purchase this. It comes with their version of the song.
In this section, I want to introduce a few of their videos. To be honest, at the time of this writing, Bakumon only has one official music video. They also appeared in the MV for "We are FreeK" for a quick few seconds. I will share that screenshot and time stamp. On May 1st, 2022, they released the LIVE Version of their song, ITADAKI. These are my opinions and also all rights go to the corresponding agencies.
The first video I want to showcase is the group's music video from their first digital single, BAKUMON FIELD DAYS. The title of the song is Urya Urya Bakumon Daiundousai (Urya Urya Bakumon Grand Festival).
This song and music video has to be one of my favorites of any group I know. I'm being a little biased but it is just my opinion. The video includes 8 of the members leading up to February 25th, 2021. The song is rocking from the get-go with a little bit of rap from Eimi. It sets the upbeat tone for the whole song. The song also features a couple of nice classical pieces in it. Do you know the name of the songs? I had to look it up to be honest. The first one is Can Can Music by Offenbach and the second one is Beethovens' Symphony Number 5. It changes the tone just for a little to hit you with the high energy. also the ending have a nice slow part where you can catch your breath a little bit. I listen to this song quite often. It's always on repeat when I'm driving. As for the music video, I like the environment of the classroom but also the outside solo shots. The outside solo shots are really really cute. The members show off each of their personalities pretty well throughout the video. I'm still curious who won the horse matchup. The switch between outfits is a nice shot. It must have been a long night to film all of that. The choreography is easy to copy (if you don't have two left feet). I'm not going to share the videos of trying it myself.
The second song on that single, Hacha-Mecha Colorful Color, is a really good song as well. I'm not going to lie about that one. It is a jam.
In the music video for "We are FreeK", Bakumon makes an appearance at the 3:43 mark. Here is a screenshot from their few second clip. The current lineup in the back.
The next video I want to share is from the groups' 3rd one-man live, their first anniversary and the start of the previous system.
This is a very good glimpse at the charisma and energy they put forth on the stage. Obviously, there were some nervousness as you could probably tell. This live was also the debut of Yuuka and Nano. All the songs are super energetic and it is true that your body will start moving without you thinking. All of the choreography is somewhat feasible to copy and you can't help but want to dance. The atmosphere looks like it would be a lot of fun if you attended one of their lives no matter the venue. I like all the songs of course, but I'm a little biased. The stage costumes were the recent updates since BAKUMON FIELD DAYS era. I really like them and you can thank Nayu for the great work in making them. As I continuously say, the members are super cute. It's hard to pick a oshi, isn't it? Give this video a watch if you haven't done so.
The last video I want to share is the LIVE Video of ITADAKI. This video consists of the current iteration of the group,
First and foremost, I absolutely love this song from start to finish. I've heard this song before when I watched some of LUNCHKIDS live videos. It is so energetic from start to finish. The song will definitely get stuck in your head, especially when you try to sleep. Believe me, it's interesting to say the least. The new system is so nice. All the members look so cute and pretty that my heart can barely handle it. As with the previous era, Nayu made these outfits as well. Aren't they great!? She does such a good job. All the members are really good singers and with Eimi the rapper, they can't be stopped. I look forward to watching this video a lot more. Bless my soul.
This is the live MV version of their song, 天上天下唯我BAKUMON, with the current lineup. You can really sense the energy all 10 members give off from the get go. The crowd also feeds into that as well. The song is really good to listen to no matter where you are. I also like the venue they are performing at. The atmosphere is great and it's made better by one of my favorite songs.
While I was doing research for this article, I questioned whether or not I had known this group before 2021. According to YouTube, I learned of the group back in August 2020. Apparently, I watched this particular video of the original members dancing separately to their song, エヴィバディ！バクモン祭! To be honest, I don't remember watching this video because it was over a year ago but I decided to go back and re-watch it while researching and it jogged my memory. Here is that video. It has commentary by former member Arisu and current member Mizuki.
It feels like a time capsule even though it was just a little over a year ago. After this video, I think I put the group on the backburner because I had a lot of other things going on at the moment. I did follow the original members on Twitter at that point to keep an eye out for them.
Fast forward to March 2021, and I stumbled across Bakumon again on my YouTube feed for a livestream delivery they did. I was unfamiliar with them because it had been a while since I saw them (my mistake) and that is when I noticed that they added a few new members (Nayu, Hikari and China).
Whilst watching, I chose an oshimen (that member knows who she is) but I will keep it a secret for this article.
I was drawn to them more than ever and followed the new members on Twitter. I finally watched their music video and talked about it for some time at home and work but not really on SNS.
It took me a month or two to finally decide to comment on one of the members Twitter accounts, but once I did, it was game over for me. I really, really started to pay attention to the group and haven't looked back. I said earlier that I constantly listen to that song. If I listen to it, it gets stuck in my head easily.
BAKUMON has a strong fanbase at home but abroad has yet to be seen. This group has a lot of potential to shine on the biggest stages. Their SNS is always full of fun things to see. They all have different personalities and that's what makes them stand apart from each other.
In all reality, I hope they can catch their big break and be a breakout star like some of their agencies other groups. Only time will tell.
I strongly wish upon the multitude of stars that a new single will be released in the near future. My fingers are crossed.
Since the original release of the article, I have become more and more of a fan. I had the opportunity to see the group 3 times when I was in Japan during the Christmas Holidays 2022. They were so energetic and their smiles were super contagious. All of the members are so nice, funny and so much more. I didn't get to meet them all but I will make sure to do so next time. There were a couple of funny awkward moments but it made things better. I took so many cheki that I was very surprised.
All of their music is constantly playing on my phone and while I'm driving, so it's a super fun time in my car. I love all their songs, so I can't choose a distinct favorite. I'm excited for their new music soon and can't wait to see them in person again. Dancing to the music of BAKUMON is so much fun until you get caught.
On a different note, here is the section where I will leave a letter to the members:
To the members of BAKUMON:
For some of you, this is a first time to say hello.
Thank you for always working hard! You put in a lot of effort every single day. Reading your calendar definitely shows how much you do. Sometimes 3 shows a day. That's a lot of work and it definitely shows. You all have been shining both on and off the stage.
You all are really cute and don't let anybody tell you any different.
You each have a strong personality that brings a different aspect to the group and you all mesh well together.
You debuted during the pandemic but all throughout it, you all have been making your fans smile, laugh and constantly energized to continue to make it another day.
Even across the world, your smiles can reach the most remote fan base. There is much more to say but I will keep it short.
I hope that you will continue to do your best and always keep your head up if you are struggling. Please continue to be safe, happy and healthy for many more years to come. Much love and support from Oklahoma, USA!
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed reading this article. I wish that you will also give them a lot of love and support in the future.
I'm sorry I haven't posted lately, as in about three weeks and I'll explain why, later in the post. This post will not be about any idol groups this time as I am starting to overwhelm myself with too many at once. This is a kind of Behind The Music thing as I will discuss who I am and what made me start a idol blog. Also, I will share some of my opinions regarding the idol world and show you what I've been watching and who I've been liking. It is kind of a ramble, just warning. Who Are You? Name: Tyler Draper Birthdate: May 2nd, 1991 Color: Red Hometown: Bethany, Oklahoma USA My hometown is technically a suburb of Oklahoma City. I do have a job outside of this blog, which is being in the backroom of the retail giant Wal-Mart. I can't complain about my job because it pays my bills. When Did You Start Listening To Idol Groups? Back in early April 2014, I was in the midst of watching YouTubers react videos and I saw one that was for the group BA
Hello Everyone! I am back. Yes you read that correct! I am back to writing about Japanese Idols again.... Where have I been? You may or may not have asked yourself. For starters, I hit a bit of writer's block to be honest and Japanese Pop began to fade from me as I began to delve more and more into Korean and Mandarin Pop. As days went on without writing, I felt like I should have done more to plow through the block but I gave in and abandoned what I worked hard on. Secondly, I'm going to put a little, just a little bit of the blame on personal things outside of the site such as new relationships and even a new job which restrained my time away from the office. But most importantly, I blame myself once again for leaving you all without a trace of what had happened and what the future was for this page. I put so much time into this place that it hurt my heart, looking back on it. I want to sincerely apologize for the time lost on here and for all the people that
Image Courtesy: Official Twitter The past few months I have written about some of my favorite groups. I had known of those groups for quite some time. This month will be a little different. I want to introduce a group that, just only a few months ago, came onto the music scene. Since their debut, they have been on constant rotation in my playlists. This dance and vocal group shouldn't be missed! Shall we go on a journey and explore more about HAKUAKI? Group Information HAKUAKI made their debut on March 11, 2021 with a one-man live operation at Hatsudai DOORS. The meaning of the name HAKUAKI confused me a little bit when I was doing research. To be honest, I thought it meant something else in Japanese. I did some translation skills and it brought up the Kanji for Cretaceous. It was period around the dinosaur times. That didn't make any sense for the name to be that. After perusing the group's Twitter, the meaning is actually Hack A Kingdom. It makes more sense when you
